Summary

The railroad industry is presumed by regulatory agencies to have historically used products containing the class of persistent emerging contaminants known as PFAS, or per- and poly- fluoroalkyl substances. PFAS may be found in several common products used at railyards, such as aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF), grease or hydraulic fluids. While the rail industry isn’t currently a primary target of regulatory agencies, it is very possible that regulators may soon require that rail yard owners assess and remediate, even though PFAS-containing products are used widely in many other industries and could have migrated on site.

The real question railroads need answered when it comes to PFAS is “What is fact and what is fiction?” Our environmental remediation and railroad experts will demystify this growing concern, lay out the current science and regulatory implications for railroads, and ultimately explore a practical 4-step process for addressing PFAS that any railroad can follow in our upcoming webinar, Managing the Hype:  Don’t Let PFAS Derail Your Operations, on January 23, 2020

By attending this webinar, you can expect to gain:

  • An understanding of other common sources of PFAS and how they differ from AFFF
  • Ways you can challenge an agency’s reluctance to accept forensics evidence that point to other sources of PFAS contamination
  • Strategies to limit your potential PFAS liabilities

Our PFAS experts, Caron Koll and Jack Sheldon, will lead you through the PFAS maze, elevate your awareness of PFAS, and guide you on your path to managing PFAS.

We sincerely hope you can join us!
