Favorite Thing about Marketing:
I get to work in almost every practice area of the organization—including sustainability, which is the thing I’m most interested in. This way I get to have a high level view of what their plans are for the year, what they’ll be targeting, and what their strategy is.
What is the most interesting project you’ve ever worked on?
H20 for Life—it was a pro bono project that a colleague and I worked on a few years ago. We helped H20 for Life, a Minnesota-based nonprofit, to revamp their marketing plan to target new schools to sign up for their programs. They partner schools in the US with schools in Africa to get them clean water access. We helped them revamp their marketing plan and create a new sales strategy and pitch—we did some research on potential corporations that they could partner with; corporations that had likeminded sustainability programs that were involved in water efforts in Africa.
What practice area(s) of marketing are you most interested in? Why?
Sustainability as a whole. I’m a big believer in the environmental issues right now. I think it’s going to be a huge problem for the future and something everyone needs to work together on to solve. Out of everything it’s the biggest question mark, as to where is it going to go.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
The company culture here is great and everyone is super friendly. My managers here encourage me to branch out, increase my skillsets, work on new projects outside of my comfort zone; they push me to do things I might not do, in a good way—where I develop those skills.
What surprises people about your job?
What surprises some people here about my job here is the wide array of things I work on. I work on research for account leaders, practice leaders, all of the graphic support, helping them get ready for external facing events when they are presenting. I also work on the website and work on all of the budget stuff for BIER and making sure the communication side of BIER runs well. I even work on a lot of event stuff and sending out invites, those are kind of the main buckets.
If you had one month off, where would you go or what would you do?
I would go to Europe and backpack around for a month. Go to Italy, go to Greece, Croatia, go everywhere.
What is on the top of your bucket list?
Hiking trip through the mountains of New Zealand, or Patagonia.
If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Sushi!
