Antea Group’s client, a janitorial services company, had recently contracted with a medical manufacturing organization to provide services to facilities and office spaces located in multiple states, including California. The contract required our client to fulfill several requirements within a contractor management system, and they were falling a little short on requirements such as the completion of health and safety procedure questionnaires, injury log revisions, and the development of a library of written health and safety programs that accurately addressed their risks. Our client had four weeks to compile this library to successfully execute the contract.
Solution
Our client decided to partner with us to fulfill their contractual obligations. We performed consulting services for them that included the development of 14 initial portfolio-specific written health and safety programs, the development and delivery of health and safety onboarding training, assistance with injury and illness recordkeeping documentation, and interfacing with key stakeholders involved in the contract initiation. Written program and training topics included:
Bloodborne Pathogen
Disciplinary Program
Driving Safety
First Aid
Hand and Power Tools
Hazard Communication
Incident Management
Ladder Safety
Pandemic Preparedness
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Return to Work
Substance Abuse
Waste Management
Antea Group took the time to get to know the client to understand what their risks were and how they applied to the portfolio. In this way, we could develop procedures and training that were specifically tailored to their circumstances. We recognized the importance of an effective health and safety program framework and worked closely with all stakeholders involved to ensure the programs were effective.
Result
Our client not only saved their contract, but they achieved a grade “A” within the contractor management system! Currently, Antea Group is the functioning health and safety partner for them, with a structured team of health and safety practitioners who are dedicated to each location within the portfolio. This greatly benefits our client because they are able to rely our expertise rather than hire internally to fill the role.
With the written programs and training completed, Antea Group began the implementation phase of the scope and went on to develop a library of documents such as job safety analyses, inspection checklist forms, and an action item tracking spreadsheet. These “living” documents allow the client to continue to improve their health and safety culture at each facility.
